Potential Photos for Magazine Cover & Promotional Poster

These are pictures my group really liked as we were impressed by the photo quality and the emotion conveyed in Steph’s eyes. The first image with Steph’s hood up gave a mysterious atmosphere to the image and conveyed innocence. Whereas in the second image she looks more strained as she is grabbing hold onto her hair. Although we liked both these images my group decided that we weren’t going to use them as no camera effects are used in the images to give them a USP and to look more professional. So therefore we decided that we were going to use the later ones I had shot, as these images were mainly experimental.

These 2 pictures I think would look great for the magazine cover. The quality of them is at a high standard which make the images look more professional. The blue light used creates an eerie effect to attract the viewer’s attention. I also think that many colours contrast the blue light in the picture such as red, yellow, black, white. This is essential as the magazines I have analysed have various different colours that all contrast from the background to stand out more. Both images are medium shots of the actress, this is vital as most magazine covers use a medium shot their model. So therefore it will make are magazine more stereotypical. My group have decided to use image 2 as it is more appropriate for a movie magazine cover. This is because in image 1 the actress looks more like she is posing rather than expressing her emotion and it has a lot more face shadowing. Whereas in image 2 Steph fits into character more as she is grabbing her hair which signifies that she is tense, this makes the reader feel sympathetic towards her and makes the protagonist come to life.

These 2 pictures I think would look great on the promotional poster for the film. The lighting effect used on the camera makes each image look like a busy area like London, which is where the film is set. On the other hand the actress looks lost and isolated, this is we intended to make Mia fell when her boyfriend gets kidnapped. The image is a long shot so that it can establish the location of the image. Most thriller films are set in a city, so establishing the surroundings may help set the genre on our final poster. However in both images she looks very sad which is not the genre we want to put across. In order to prevent us influencing the audience to think that it is a sad film we plan to use an additional image of the villain of the plot (Dean) so that the plot is more recognisable to our audience. Overall my group decided we would prefer to use image 2 as her head is tilted down which signifies innocence and it is better quality.
