This is the poster that Shanyse created using Photoshop. Whilst she was producing it Hollie, Leyla and Me were guiding her and giving our opinions on images, effects, text, colour etc... We decided to use this picture as the camera effect used made it look like a busy location like London which is where the film is set. So therefore it’s essential to establish the surrounding as most thriller films a set in a City, so this images enables us to set the genre.
At first we placed the font of Reprisal, we used to same font we initially used for the magazine cover as it illustrates genre and to link them together. We made it big to stand out from the rest of the page.
On the second stage of producing the poster we added the cast names in red font above the film name. The colour red symbolised love and danger so we thought it would set the perfect message we want to get across to our audience. We then added an image of Nick, we changes the opacity of his image to create a ghostly effect, whilst conveying him as being a Villain. In order to prevent him overlapping Steph we cut out her using the ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’ on Photoshop, and made a new layer and placed it over Nick. This is vital as it conveys importance, whilst Nick being at a higher angle conveys authority as he plays the Villain.
We then placed the slogan below the film name, again using red font to anchor the actor names. We had many errors with the slogan due to the fact that the heroin and the villain is on the poster and not the person being kidnapped, we had to pick a slogan that wouldn’t confuse the viewer and that would be suitable for the trailer. We decided to change the slogan to ‘How far would you go?’ as our first attempt ‘An epic tale about a girls fight for true life’ may give the wrong impression that she is fighting for Dean (Nick). This is a simple yet effective slogan, as it makes the viewer question which draws their attention. We also added the minor details such as the website and the production information in small white font. We also added the 20th Century Fox logo placed on the bottom right corner. This makes our poster look more professional.
We then decided to place Eugene somewhere on the poster as an experiment. We decided that he should look happy as that’s how the main protagonist remembers him; it is also conventional as it is presented in the Taken poster. We wanted to add him as he is another main character; however the image we used disrupted the theme we wanted to convey so it was not appealing. So we then removed the image of Brett (Eugene).
On the fifth stage of production we decided to change the colour font used for both the slogan and actor names from red to white. This was so that it would contrast more, so they stand out to the audience. I recommended that we placed the 15 certificate on the right hand corner of the page and the release date above the production information. The release date is in red font, to contrast from the rest of the white font from the page. We then moved the production information in the middle of the page so that it would look more conventional and so everything would fit around it perfectly.
Final Promotional Poster
Although we had all liked the poster above on the final stage Alex suggested that we change the font of the film name, as it was not original or unique. We all agreed with him after than decided that we should find a font which was unique but helps set the genre. We then found a font on dafont.com which we all agreed on which called impact label. This turned out to look effective on the poster; trailer and the magazine cover so we decided to use it as a synergistic link in our project so that it is recognisable to our audience and a trademark of our film. We also decided to stretch the credits across the bottom of the page more to make it look more professional and stand out more. I decided that we should add a review score from the FilmFlex magazine me and Leyla created, this enabled us to link both print pieces together along with the film font. I decided it would be good to rate it 4 stars as it is a good rating and more realistic than 5. After much amplification, we concluded that this poster will be our final and have agreed that it portrays the thriller genre extremely well. Many experiments had been undertaken but we are all happy with the final outcome and had all our opinions in consideration. We think it will attract our target audience as the colours used and the emotions of the character used all are conventional to thriller genres which will attract are market.

The Review stars are way to big nick they should be the smae if not smaller than the slogan
