Media Coursework Brief

The purpose of this blog will be to contain information about my A2 Media Coursework, which will be updated frequently. This will include various images, clips, research and feedback my group will gather when deciding whether to do a music video or film trailer. Our group consist of 5 people (Me, Leyla, Shanyse, Hollie and Alex) which is beneficial as it brings in more ideas. We as a group have come to the conclusion that a film trailer would be the best choice, as we all enjoy films and we will put all our effort in to make our film trailer look professional. We thought that we could use our existing knowledge of other films to help fit the story and use different editing/camera techniques to make are trailer grab the viewer’s attention. This means we could show the theory of ‘intertextuality’, ‘narrative’ and ‘genre’ within our film trailer. So far the genre our group has decided to use for our final video is the ‘thriller’ genre. This is a good choice because it will help add suspense to our trailer and keep a mysterious atmosphere to attract the viewer’s attention. Since there are a lot of thriller films in the market it gives are group an array of trailers to analyse to help inspire us to convey conventions for our film trailer, as well as subverting them to give are film a USP. Rather than copying other trailers we plan to make our trailer original but understandable to our audience. Along with the film trailer are group will also produce a magazine cover and poster to promote our product.
