Here are some direct quotes from when I asked my target audience what they thought about our trailer. I showed each of them the original to compare it to. We also posted it on Facebook to get more feedback, most of them were fairly positive. Some even posted that they would pay to see it.
Natalie (Aged 18):
“I liked the font that was used and I think it was better to keep the font the same unlike the previous trailer. I preferred the effects used when the trailer ended such as the flashlight effect and the breathing sound effects. I also thought the music used fits with the trailer better. But I was uncertain about the split screen effect. ”
Charlotte (Aged 15):
“Although the female actress acting wasn’t perfect, I feel that she conveyed the right emotions which made me feel sympathetic towards her. I really liked the split screen effect but I think it should have been used more. “
Brett (Aged 18):
“I think that the trailer is amazing, it is well edited and I liked the variety of shots used. I thought the split screen effect made the trailer look professional & I think the thunder sound effects was cleverly used the break the happy atmosphere. I also thought that the cutting back to the phone conversation was very good as it made the story make sense.”
Darren (Aged 19):
“Cutting back from the phone conversation and the action scenes was a very good set up. I liked all the effects used during the phone call. I thought the music used was a lot better as it created a better mood. The acting wasn’t perfect but overall I thought the trailer was quality and looked more professional than the first trailer you showed me. “
Overall I am very pleased with what our target audience thought of the trailer. Most of the comments were about the changes we made from the original trailer meaning that we made a better trailer which appealed more to our audience. After producing the first trailer we got a few negative comments about it being too repetitive, plot being confusing, not looking professional enough etc... So I’m very pleased that we took those into account and produced a better quality trailer.
